In a series of land mark decisions between 1801 and 1835 John Marshall defined the right of the Supreme Court to declare an act of Congress unconstitutional, upheld the concept of constitutional “implied powers,” and the sanctity of contract.

For this exercise, I would like you to post your analysis of Marshall’s legal decisions and their impact on the future of the American legal and political system. Review the following landmark cases as background for your response:

Gibbons v. Ogden
McCulloch v. Maryland
