This assignment aims to assess the ability of students to undertake an analysis of risk assessment and risk management within the practice learning setting. You will need to select an appropriate area of practice in order to address the requirements of this assessment task. This means that you need to select a case where you are assessing risk and have a role in the management of the identified risk. Within the assignment you are asked to;
a) Define, identify and analyse areas of risk within a piece of work you are engaged in during your current practice learning experience. This should include a discussion of the definition of risk and risk assessment, drawing on appropriate literature for your placement setting.
b) Drawing on your work on the same case, evaluate the strategies employed in the management of the identified risk factors at this stage in your placement. This should include a discussion of the definition of risk management drawing on appropriate literature and should reference the evidence base in relation to risk management plans.
c) Using the same case material, critically evaluate potential tensions between human rights, social work values and working with risk.
